So, you know how I decided I like Mexican food while I was in Arizona? Eric and I tried some Massachusetts Mexican last night at Ixtapa Mexican. I guess it's technically a chain, since there are 4 locations around here, but I'm not against chains. It's definitely a casual feel and the location we visited was basically in a small business plaza. We went at about 6:30 and the place was totally filled with kids, but since I was no where near work I didn't care at all :)
They did have some Mexican decorations around to set the tone:
And, the most important thing about any Mexican restaurant...
chips and salsa
AND
margaritas...
This one received the Eric stamp of approval. And it was served in the cactus glass that Eric tried to buy off the waitress in Arizona haha.
I ordered my Mexican favorite: chicken fajitas...
I make myself small wraps of chicken, rice, a small amount of beans and a small amount of guac. So yummy. Or should I say delicioso. 9 years of Spanish class and thats about all I can say! If only I didn't eat so many chips this would be a pretty healthy meal :)
This morning I went to spin class and tried out my new headbands from Violet Love . After I told Violet Love owner Rebecca about my headband breaking in the middle of my 5k (and I had to hold it because I didn't want to just throw a headband on the ground haha), she offered to send me some of her SHE headbands for working out. They are made out of that wicking fabric we all know and love and they are cute too. I wore the gray version to spin this morning...
Okay so it would've been cute if it wasn't so clear that I JUST woke up 5 minutes before the picture was taken. Oh well :) I also got another cute one which has some pink on it, so of course I love it.
So after an intense spin class, what did I think? Amazing. Not only was there no chance of this breaking any time soon, it also did not slide around at ALL, even with me taking off and putting on my sweatshirt before and after class. I am not even sure how that's possible since my old headbands (the ones that broke) used to have those small bumps to keep them from sliding and Violet Love headbands are smooth and soft.
Also, does anyone else get headaches from headbands that are too tight? Cuz I do...no headache from this at all, it fits really comfortably and not too tight at all. I've been wearing it for at least 4 hours now with no sign of getting a headache any time soon.
Basically in a nutshell you want to try these headbands. If for some reason you aren't a big work out person (or don't wear headbands while working out), check out the website anyway because she sells headbands for every day use, as well as tights AND they make tons of kids products as well. My favorite are definitely the matching tights and headbands...I'm thinking I could totally fit into an extra large, right?
So...anyone feel like WINNING some headbands?
Of course you do! To enter to win these two awesome headbands, you can do the following (leave a separate comment for each entry):
#1- Go to the Violet Love website and tell me the one thing you would buy if you could buy anything...
#2- Post about this giveaway on your blog and let me know.
#3- If you could only do one exercise for the rest of your life, what would you pick? (I ask because I have no idea how I'd decide- I love changing it up so much!)
Good luck. I'll announce a winner on Wednesday night. Since I am mailing (and these are wicked light), I'm happy to send wherever so anyone can enter!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
I would pick the pretty pink one like you got, because she sent me one too and I lost it. :-( I really liked that pattern...
ReplyDeleteHmmm...one exercise. I think I'd pick the running. It's an efficient way to burn calories and there are ways to mix up runs to keep it interesting.
ReplyDeleteHey Kel! I so have totally lost track of your blog. So, my wife and I are going to be in Boston for the marathon (to watch). Are you and Eric going to be there?? As far as your giveaway, what the heck, I'll enter it too! I would definitely do running as the one exercise for the rest of my life. If I win, I'll give the headband to my daughter, who's also a hard working teacher.
ReplyDeleteI would pick the ballerina she band - I love everything pink!
ReplyDeleteWhat a delicious dinner - I love Mexican food as well!
Oh and I would run for my only exercise!
ReplyDeleteI would totally pick the black belt she by vl headband. I have to wear headbands when i work out because my hair always gets into my face.
ReplyDeleteThat margarita looks AMAZING!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I think I'd get one of the signature couture headband!
If I could only do one exercise... it would be running. Just because you CAN get some variety in there - by yourself, or alone, inside or outside...
ReplyDeleteI think that if I had to pick one exercise, it would be group exercise classes. Then I could do lots of different class... lol!! ;)
ReplyDeleteMy one exercise would be a form of dance. It doesn't even FEEL like exercise!
ReplyDeleteThose headbands look great! Especially for those of us with short hair and/or layers that don't like to stay back in a pony tail.
Those headbands sound awesome. I have never found a headband that stays on my head - and doesn't give me a headache!
ReplyDeleteIf I had to do one exercise for the rest of my life, I would probably have to choose running...
I actually like the grey because it's more versatile and would match more. haha
ReplyDeleteoh, and if I could only do one exercise, it would be competitive eating. Especially Mexican food. ;)
ReplyDeleteI really like the grey one! I could definitely use a headband to use for workouts!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I would stick with spinning if I could only do one exercise for the rest of my life.
ReplyDeleteHer stuff is so nice! I think I'd have to go with "Irish Birthday Cake" - very funky!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'd definitely pick running... easy. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the "capture the flag" color headband. I get headaches from tight headbands too!! SO annoying!
ReplyDeleteI guess I'd say running....or maybe yoga! Which Prana yoga have you been to? I've only gone to Cambridge but I hear the one in Newton is super nice...
ReplyDeleteThose SHE headbands look SO NICE!!! I would want an assortment of those in a bunch of colours. Since my hair is so short I NEED to use a headband to hold it back because ponytails don't work for me!
ReplyDeleteAnnnnd if I could do only ONE exercise for the rest of my life I would HAVE to go with running! It's a really tough call between running, swimming and lifting. All three of those are my favourite! Haha but running is my most fav :)
ReplyDeletehmmm...ony one exercise? I'd have to go with the elliptical, or running, or yoga..I guess I can't decide!
ReplyDeleteI'd pick trophy-I think-but there are so many great ones, I'd probably take any of them!
ReplyDeleteI'd love the ballerina headband! These are so cool - especially if they stay in place!
ReplyDeleteIf I could only do one exercise - I'd go with biking - it's fun and such a good workout!
ReplyDeleteWell it's funny you bring up headbands because I'm in the market for some and I haven't found THE one. I have tried so many and have been happy with none. I would definitely get the black SHE headband and probably one of the other cute ones in the Signature Couture line.
ReplyDeleteOnly thing I couldn't find on their website is what payments they take. Maybe I missed it. Hoping they take Paypal.
One exercise for the rest of my life? Probably walking or Elliptical.
ReplyDeleteOH this is perfection for me!
ReplyDelete#1 I'm not fashionable enough for some of their stuff, so any of the She colors would be awesome
#3 I would pick running..I know surprise right
ReplyDeleteOMG those headbands are all so adorable!!! But if I had to chose, I really dig the "On My Radar"
ReplyDeleteLinked ya back to my blog
ReplyDeleteExercise wise,I would pick strength training of some sort. I despise doing cardio.

ReplyDeleteI'd cheer for the rest of my life. Though stunting and tumbling might get more difficult in later years. Hahha.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win some headbands!
The SHE headbands look great. I checked out the website and On the Green would probably be my choice for a summer colored band.
ReplyDeleteOh, yay! I was hoping you were giving these away because once you started talking about them, I wanted one! My favorite is probably from the SHE line, Vitamin C.
ReplyDeleteIf I could only do one exercise, it would probably be Spinning. Love, love, love spinning and I don't get to do it often!
ReplyDeleteI am a new reader to your blog and really enjoy it. If I could pick one item from the website it would be a toss up between the ballerina band (I love pink) and the black belt band (more pratical)
ReplyDeleteIf I had to choose one form of exercise it would be Crossfit, because you get to do a little bit of everything.
ReplyDeleteI love the performance headbands on their website so this giveaway is perfect! Thanks!
