Anyway, my day was fantastic until I opened my wedding guest list. Am I alone in finding this list to be THE MOST annoying thing about wedding planning? I started with a list, then it got added to, but sometimes it was added to my parents list, sometimes my list and I can't tell you how many times we were like "where is aunt so and so?" or "why is my best friend NOT on this list?" etc.
Just last week I finally took the "final" list and reorganized it and reformatted it so that it was in the formal invitation language. Turns out that only confused me more. Once you delete the woman's name and formalize the guy's name, "Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Smith", now I just don't know who half the guests are! Including my own friends who all decided to change their names in the middle of me planning a wedding! (how dare they? j/k) Then I attempted to add the kids names which was another joke. Can I just write "and kids" or "and kids as long as you are willing to deal with them because Eric and I get enough of that every other day?" Formal shmormal. I tried to stick to the "rules" as much as possible but I did put the names of guests on the outside of the envelope even if they don't live together. Sorry but Eric and I see our friend's girlfriends/boyfriends/fiance's about as much as we see our friends, so no we will not call them "guests." Also, guests 18 and older are supposed to get their own invites even if they live with their parents. Seems pointless to me...do you really need two invitations to
And also- is there REALLY a need for 2 envelopes? No. Because even if someone does decide to
So trivia question for you: True or False- Kelly LOVES the formalities of weddings. You said True didn't you?
Okay enough about that. Have you been wondering how I've been doing with eating more veggies in honor of National Nutrition Month? (probably not but I'm going to tell you anyway!). I haven't been recording my number of servings or anything, but I think I've been eating significantly more veggies than I was before. This week I made another one of my favorite pizzas:
On top of crust I put- tomato sauce, carrots, parsnips, summer squash, mushrooms, red peppers and black beans. That's 3 delicious veggie filled lunches.
Also last week I happened to notice that I do really well prepping my veggies for the beginning of the week, say Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday...and then Thursday, Friday, Saturday- I run out of veggies and don't go grocery shopping until Sunday. Oops. This week I tried to plan ahead better and I think it worked. I still have sweet potatoes and butternut squash leftover, half a bag of baby carrots, and an eggplant still left. Not bad for a girl who's stomach regularly rejects veggies?
How do you make sure you are getting enough veggies? Do you plan ahead or do you naturally just eat a lot of vegetables?
I plan ahead, and vegggie packed smoothies really help!
ReplyDeleteWe had simple, one card invitations without all of the fluff. We didn't even do reply cards! People had to call us. It was me being environmentally friendly. . . and cheap ;)
I rebelled and didn't get an inner envelope! Invitations are driving me crazy. When are you sending yours out? I'm going to try to just print the addresses on them. I don't see the point in a calligrapher either.
ReplyDeleteOh man, you're making me happy NOT to be anywhere near ready to get married. Sounds like a ton of work -- but obviously worth it at the end. ;)
ReplyDeleteAt home, I get enough veggies without even having to think about it. It's a lot more difficult while traveling and I know I fall short every day. I can feel the difference in my energy levels, endurance, overall my body feels much more tired and weak than before.
I find that I am soooo much better at eating veggies when I make things that have hidden veggies in, like soups, chilli etc. I also always make sure that I have frozen veggies at work so that I can add them whenever my lunch is a little lacking in that department - helps when all the fresh veggies are gone too. WTG on eating more veggies :o)
ReplyDeleteWOW! That pizza was so pretty! I have to experiment with parsnips. I always like the way they taste when I eat them at restaurants and when others make them for me, so why not make them at home? Plus, your pizza looked too darn good to not try. Can't wait to meet you!
ReplyDeleteI didn't have any wedding invitations because we eloped!
Yummm on the beautiful pizza! EVer since I started making my own home-made pizzas...the thought of take-out or frozen makes me cringe. Plus, I can't eat cheese -- so my "home-made" pizza makes my stomach happy too! I've never thought to put sqaush on it! Mmm. I do like throwing zuccini and have even been known to sneak spinach and broccoli on it! Yum!
ReplyDeleteAnd WOW -- I feel for you on the wedding formalities. We got married last August. THE WORST PART OF PLANNING was that damn guest list. Good LORD. And yeah, it turns into like 3 envelopes. I was so confused with the invitations. And I realllly didn't care about them. I feel your pain!!!!
Hahahahahaha. Omg, I never want to get married. EVER. Thanks for that, Kelly!!
ReplyDeleteI have that song on my ipod. Makes me smile every time I hear hear it. Wedding stuff can be frustrating, and that's why I didn't have a traditional one. Happy envelope stuffing!
ReplyDeleteI have so much to look forward to in planning a wedding!! Yikes. The guest list has always been what worries me most about planning a wedding. Who do I invite?!?! We don't want a huge wedding, but we both know so many people..ugh, no fun, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on succeeding in getting more fruits and vegetables each day! To be hoenst, I record my servings of fruits and vegetable each day, and that's how I keep track. It's my way of preventing cancer, which runs in my family. I consume 6-7 servings a day (on most days, weekends are more difficult). That veggie/pineapple pizza looks delicious!
I really need to try black beans on pizza- it looks so good!
ReplyDeleteThat pizza looks yummy. I too usually do my grocery shopping on wednesday and find myself running out of fruits and veggies mid-week but have been getting better about replenishing those wednesday or thursday when I think about it... :)
ReplyDeleteI love your invitation talk because I am the same way (not that I am actually planning a wedding or anything). If you live in the same house why do you need your own invite....save the money, paper, postage and put towards something better (like candy, lol). Also the two envelope thing and all of the little tissue paper inside seems like just a waste of paper to me. But, what do I know.
ReplyDeleteGO RANTING WEDDING KELLY! GO! Yesss I love it. hahah I laughed during this entire post just hearing you say all this in your head.
ReplyDeletePS. I BEST GET MY OWN INVITATION.
Joke.
That is one vegetable party on your pizza!!!!
ReplyDeleteI naturally eat a lot of veggies. Where I am lacking is in fruits! I probably only eat 2 to 3 servings of fruit a WEEK!!
ReplyDeleteThis makes me glad I am not getting married anytime soon. So much to think about.
ReplyDeletePizza looks fab!
Every hates the guest list part of planning. It sucks. I mean, I haven't personally gone thorugh it but have listened to plenty of venting about it!
ReplyDeleteI try to chop up fruit & veggies on Sundays to prep for the week. I am really good about it in the summer - not so much in the winter.
I plan ahead and STILL don't eat enough veggies!
ReplyDeleteI hated organizing the guest list too - my MIL invited so many people we didn't know because they're "her closest friends" (all 70+ of them?) so when I made the "final" version I just took a bunch of them off and sent invitations to the people I actually WANTED to invite. But she helped put the invitations together and I swear she stole some, lol, because somehow almost all of her friends still came. Maybe I shouldn't have let her make the seating chart ...
The invite list is such a pain - it gets so confusing! I agree - the stupid rules that come with wedding invitations are ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI love the "come on ride a train song" - I'm singing it at my desk now.
You definitely have that song firmly stuck in my head! Wedding planning sounds super awesome... I think you need a froyo break!
ReplyDeleteyea..... wedding planning can be soooo stressful! mine, will be very simple.. lol eloping! well can it be called eloping if you plan it ahead of time and just dont invite anyone??
ReplyDeleteyou need to just do your invites however you want! i so didn't know about the 2nd envelope until you mentioned it. yeah i'm not doing all that.... haha. if someone is going to get 'mad' because my invitation is not all prim and proper then DONT COME! it's a freakin piece of paper that will get thrown away in a few months, you know? (though yes, they can be gorgeous and so cute but i'm still gonna throw it away eventually) :)
