...Christmas!
Today was my last day of swine flu/Thanksgiving break haha. One of my favorite things about Thanksgiving break is that all my friends come back to town and I get to see them. Except that...my friends seemed to have all moved back to Boston in the last few years so really, Susanne is my only far away friend who's parents live here. Wow, she should feel special. Anyway, I met up with her today for lunch and we caught up on everything :) Then, my parents texted me to see if I wanted to join the family to buy their Christmas tree. Like I would pass up on a Christmas related event?
Since my brother and sister are home from college this weekend, the whole family headed to the store to get a tree.
Usually the "kids" always want a giant tree, but this year my dad was on our side and we ended up with a nice big tree, which I will show later, but first...
So many amazing Christmas decorations...
The kids...we look like an advertisement for North Face fleece...and Merrimack College, which isn't even where my brother goes haha...
Look at the little reindeer...
Just me and my mommy...
Okay enough. I was a little obsessed. When we got back to my parents house Jake took care of the tree on his own. These pictures make him look short, but really this tree is like 9 feet tall!
I love getting Christmas trees and I'm excited I get to do it again for my own house next weekend. Eric and I decided to wait until he is done coaching football before we get our tree (well actually, it wasn't so much of a decision as, if I wanted him to come, I had to wait haha). Don't be surprised if there is some champagne in the picture of us getting our tree because Eric will be DONE with football and back to having a life, yay!
I hope everyone had a great long weekend. Check back tomorrow for my new core workout for the month of December!
*The title from my last post, "and I'm back in the game" is from the movie 10 Things I Hate About You. Brings you back huh?
Awww I'm so jealous of your Christmas tree! I'm not decorating my apartment since I'm going to be gone for 3 weeks over Christmas but I can't wait to move back home and decorate with my mom and decorate Eric's place!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic tree!! I love looking for Christmas trees. I was SO pissed when my family broke down and bought a fake tree. Seriously, what the heck?! Nick and I will NEVER do that!
ReplyDeleteLove your tree! I always had a real one growing up, too but went fake after I got married. Our first married Christmas together, the entire tree fell--lights, garland, water and all. Needless to say, that was the end of the live tree tradition for us! lol
ReplyDeleteThat tree is HUGE!!! My parents are the same, usually they want a puny 4 footer. So lucky you :P
ReplyDeleteAnd btw, you and your siblings really look alike!
That is a gorgeous tree!! I miss having a real tree... we always had one when I was growing up but my husband always had a fake one. We ended up trying a real one... until it got so darn expensive! Now we have a fake one (which is nice but I miss the smell of real trees).
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun holiday tradition for your family! Your mom must be young! She looks like she could be your sister in that picture. :)
SOunds like a great time! My two younger sisters and I joined my parents in finding a tree Friday night. It was pretty fun, and entertaining to watch them rearrange furniture and set up the tree! Love the smell of a real tree in the house!
ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome tree and looks like so much fun.
ReplyDelete*fingers crossed for Reading's QB to be hit with the swine flu Tuesday*
ReplyDeleteSo fun! I am off to buy some Christmas decorations tomorrow! Somehow in the span of living in 4 different places in 4 years I've lost all of mine!
ReplyDeletenice tree! I don't celebrate xmas but I am beginning to see how much fun the whole process of just getting the tree can be!! your family looks so close and great!! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great tree! Sounds like a great time!!!
ReplyDeleteThat tree is gorgeous!! And huge. I have a touch of real tree envy...I always loved the process of going to pick one out. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you found my blog...yours is so great too! And trust me, July is going to be here before you know it. It seems like just the other day we had as much time before the wedding and suddenly it's almost here!
Great tree! Those pink Christmas decorations are terrible. Do they really sell pink decorations for Christmas? I've never seen that!
ReplyDeleteah the christmas cheer is making me so happy :) love this time of year!
ReplyDeleteKelly, I am so far behind in my blog reading.... I'm so sorry you were sick. I'm glad you made a speedy recovery. Especially in time for Christmas cheer! I love your tree and that is a great window to show it off!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a tree! Getting a tree is one of the best parts of the season for me. Ours went up this weekend and it adds so much warmth to the apartment. Good luck back at work!
