My Thoughts on Idol (Spoiler Alert)

I know there are a lot of bad thing to say about American Idol. It's a corny show, some of the people on it are really not that talented, the judges can be annoying, they are the only show in the world that can take what should be a 5 minute show into a 2 1/2 hour show. However, I admit it,
I started watching Idol during the second season when I was a freshman in college. We got out of it for a couple of years but got back into it senior year. Since then I have watched every single episode (even the auditions which I hate). I do, of course, tape the results show and fast forward through most of it but seriously, are they kidding me sometimes?
This entire season I have been a huge fan of both Kris and Danny. Adam has annoyed me the whole time for several reasons, including he is just totally not my style, he makes everything ridiculously dramatic, and the judges NEVER find any fault with him. On Tuesday night they were basically assuming that Kris was going to lose with their comments- "you really have accomplished a lot to get this far..." etc etc
That just fueled my fire even more. Anyway, I was so excited when Kris won last night AND I even decided that I did not hate Adam anymore. For me, you can tell a lot about a person by how they lose. I spend a lot of time teaching my kindergarten kids to be good sports (which usually involves them not bursting into tears and/or screaming in anger when they lose). Adam was a REALLY good sport last night. He actually seemed genuinely happy for Kris. And he should be really, because I'm sure he is going to get a record deal and be hugely successful regardless of whether he is considered the winner. Even Kris himself seemed to think that Adam should've won, but in all reality, regardless of talent, Kris was just significantly more likable. In all honestly I know basically nothing about music. Sure I can tell who can sing vs. who cannot at all (like myself) but when you have two people who can both sing and perform well, I don't know who is technically more talented. My guess is that most of America does not either. Therefore, we vote for who we like the most, and that is Kris :) I almost cried when he hugged his wife at the end. Now I can start my day in a great mood, which I'm sure my kindergarten kids will ruin within the first five minutes of the day. But luckily it will be brought back tonight at the Red Sox game!!! I hope everyone has a good one. Plus, in the Kindergarten ABC Countdown, today is D for "Dance Party" wooo hoo! Have I convinced anyone to become a teacher yet?

  1. hey girl! I just wanted to say thank you for the comment on my post -- that is too funny about your speeding ticket, and you were so right about women cops.. ha!

so glad to have found your blog - can't wait to continue reading :)!

    have a great day! xoxo

  2. plus, I've been told Kris looks like me. yay! i won! :P

  3. Although Adam is not my style, I do think he is a better singer and performer than Kris. With that said, I'm not disappointed that Kris won. He is a good singer, seems nice & humble and much easier on the eye than Adam. ;D

I am a big Danny fan... what a great guy he seems to be!

  4. I just can't stand watching any of those shows. X factor, Britain's Got Talent, American Idol. At any given time of the year there's always one or two of these shows on and they show repeats at the weekends.
I love watching Big Brother and that's it.

  5. Haha you know me well. I actually was planning on working out around 10, after I've digested the 12 oreos I just ate (oops!). But no, it won't be at 1am. At least not tonight ;)

Hope you are having a nice weekend!

(Sorry this was in no way related to AI -- I have never watched that show! I did however like Kris better than Adam anyway)

  6. I'm one of the few out there who couldn't be payed to watch American Idol...I wish I did so I could talk about it with everybody else but it just doesn't catch my attention!
