So You Think You're Oblivious?

While I should've been at spinning tonight (sorry Kathy!), I skipped it (again) in favor for a night in the beautiful state of New Hampshire. One of my friends from work lives up there, but her delicious cooking makes it well worth the drive to get dinner cooked every once in awhile. Here is the chef, Melanie...
Kinda seems like she should be wearing an apron, huh?
I was SO excited when I saw the wine choice for the evening...
I went to Mondavi when I was in Napa last year and I didn't get to try the Pinot Grigio, which is generally my favorite kind of wine. It was just as delicious as I expected it to be!

Do you know those houses that you visit and they automatically make you want to decorate your house better? Yeah...Mel has one of those houses...
Oh yeah and you know those people you kind of want to move in so they'll cook for you every night? Yeah again...
Delicious chicken parm, no cheese for me though :) So good. On the way home I spotted a Walmart. There is not a Walmart to be found near me, and I'll be honest, New Hampshire has no sales tax. I went a little crazy...
Now, look carefully at the photo above. In it, you can see picture frames, bottled water, a night stand for our guest room, and two bar stools for our counter. Look reallllly carefully. Notice anything, WEIRD about the photo above?

Okay fine, I'll give you a clue...This is what my bar stools looked like when I got them home...
AWWWW man...those are SO not the same size!!!!!! At first I tried to blame it on the fact that I had them upside down in the cart. But after looking at the picture above, I really can't say that. It's pretty clear. Fortunately, Eric was very nice about it and suggested that the big one was for him and the small one was for me. Haha...looks like another trip to Walmart may be in my future...

I never claimed to be a detail person...

  2. Oooh I will have to try that Pinot Grigio! I still have to get to Mondavi. You should sit on the big stool so that you are taller!!

  5. I hate those people!! haha, no, jk, but I AM a little jealous of their ability to decorate so well. I have not one artistic or creative bone in my body. I can cook though!

Regarding your comment on my blog, I think the diet is very general. I mean, these are the foods that are most likely to disturb your PMS. I noticed that foods like broccoli actually don't do me any hard. Blueberries bother me, but frozen blueberries don't! There were a couple other things on that list that I still eat...like honey, it doesn't seem to bother me. IBS is one of those conditions where you sort of have to figure out your own diet! And get taught things on the way that help you understand things better.

  8. Yes, I often have that feeling of wondering how everyone else seems to know how to decorate so well - so I try and pick-up one hint that makes it seem so homey and see how I can do that in our own place :)

  11. The food looks fantastic! I love that you were up in NH! I wonder how close you are to me... ;-)

Hilarious that the stools are so different in size. Can you cut the legs shorter on the long one?

Glad you had a blast with your friend!

I can't believe there aren't many Walmarts near you, there are Walmarts EVERYWHERE in Canada!! (or BC at least)

I LOVE having dinner and wine with friends, makes for the best nights ever!
