Life on the Edge

Eric and I have been living life on the edge in Sedona...

Don't worry, the most real danger in Sedona is the idea of me quitting my full-time, tenured teaching job, selling my house to Caroline and moving to Sedona for life :)

Are you a risk taker? Technically, Eric is a risk taker and I am not. However, in the past year I have stood on a place called "Devil's Bridge," swam under Eric's family-friends boat in NH (an induction into the family if you will) and taken a doors-off helicopter ride over a volcano, I'd say I'm not exactly the anti-daredevil :)

If you had the opportunity to move anywhere in the world for a year or so, where would you move? Obviously you can imagine I can't answer this question for sure seeing as I can't even settle on a place to VISIT for a little while. However, Sedona is on my list of places I could easily live for a year. Other places include: Sydney (I lived there for 6 months, but I could easily do another 6... though I have to say the food in Arizona is WAY better), Big Island Hawaii and probably England, Ireland or Scotland. I'm terrible at languages so living somewhere that doesn't speak English is probably out of the question, though it would be a very cool challenge.

Now it's your turn :)

  1. i'm wicked jealous! i think i'd pick spain if i was only committing to a year or so. or cali. i don't think i could take more than a year of their laid back attitude.

  2. Your trip looks awesome! I am going to have to go to Arizona asap now :)
If I had to choose anywhere to live for a year it would probably be Australia.

PS: I would be so freaked out to swim underneath a boat, the underneath of boats freak me out. I have this irrational fear that the boat's gonna get turned on and I'm going to get something cut off... Probably stemming from a childhood fear, I'm sure! :)

Enjoy the rest of your trip!

  3. Great photos! I especially like that first one of Eric!

I would LOVE to live in Italy for a year :) And I've never been to Hawaii but the things I've heard about the climate there make me think it would be a nearly ideal place to live :)

  4. What a beautiful place! I have never been to Arizona, but I think you've sold me! Especially if I can explore in a pink jeep!

  6. Those are great pictures! Looks like you are having an awesome time. I am not a risk taker in general, but I have bungy jumped so I can take risks if I have enough peer pressure. ;)

My answer to your question is no surprise. I'd pick Paris, of course. Another place I'd love to live is Italy. Maybe the southern Amalfi coast region? I would love to visit Italy some day!

  7. Funny story...

I went to Sedona a few years back with my friend and we went hiking around the Vortex Field (did you see that?). This woman started chanting things at us and started to follow us through the trail. It was the weirdest thing. Im pretty sure she was doing some sort of voodoo on us.

  8. I'm a little home sick right now, so if I could live anywhere it would be back in NH.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip!

  12. Ummmm . . . definitely not Sedona. Let's just say I had some horrible racist experiences there and I'm no hurry to go back.

BUT, I would LOVE to spend a year living somewhere tropical! Maybe Perth! Kinda tropical but also safe!

  13. Jealous. Very, very jealous! As I lie here in bed with the stupid flu and a storm coming to Boston tomorrow!
I would live in Sonoma. For the rest of my life, preferably :)

  14. Those pictures are gorgeous! Sheesh. I'm a bit jealous.

I'm not sure where I'd rather live. I'm scared to live anywhere with a REAL winter. I'm such a wimp when it comes to cold weather. I basically want to quit life when it gets to 50 degrees, ha.
