We are in the wedding planning zone down here, crossing things off the list. Maybe I don't love wedding planning but I do love crossing things off any "To Do" list! Anyone with me on this one?
Yesterday we started the day meeting with the florist. Pre-all my friends getting married I'd say I wasn't really in to flowers, but the more weddings I go to the more into them I become. I still don't know the names of most flowers, but I'm completely sold on the insane amount of pink that will be present at my wedding. My mom and the florist had already done most of the work so yesterday we just went through and made a few easy changes. We made my bouquet a bit more hot pink (obviously) and we added some new color to Caroline and Katie's bouquets so they can be a little extra special as my fabulous Maid and Matron of Honor.
Later in the day was the famous hair and make up trial. I actually had a little issue with the woman who was supposed to be doing my hair and make up (as in, I thought we were locked into the date, she didn't, oops), so I switched people and I was very nervous. But like so many near disaster situations like this, the new hair and make up people ended up being great and so fun to work with, which I feel like is key when it comes to your wedding day. I am already high strung enough, I don't need anyone stressing me out!
*If you are attending my wedding and don't want to see what my hair/make up are going to look like, stop reading now!!
Hair Fun:
You get the gist right? Haha. It will look a bit different at the wedding because they will blow out with my hair and all that. Here comes the make up...
(PS. I hate make up haha, but I look more like myself than usually when make up is on me so, I'll take it)
Fun, huh? I'm usually not a huge fan of having my hair and make up done but these ladies were fun and Katie came to offer her educated opinion too so it was just fun times all around.
So this morning is all about paper products- programs, favor cards (we are donating) and place cards. Once we get those done (and invitations sent) we are going to be smooth sailing to July 10th. Wishful thinking?
I still have a lot of big things left like deciding what shoes to wear, getting dress fittings, water bottle labels, bridesmaid and parent gifts.
Right now my top priority is finalizing the ceremony. I can't decide on music because I am torn between taking the easy way and just using traditional music (Here Comes the Bride, Wedding March etc) and using something non traditional that would take more time and effort to figure out.
Also, since I wrote the ceremony myself I'm still fine tuning it. I have two of my cousins doing readings and I'm 100 percent sure on the first one, but up in the air on the second one. Wedding readings are just so CORNY! Anyone have any non corny readings? Please send my way! I'm also debating between just having her do an Irish Blessing and/or adding someone else to do an Irish Blessing.
You know how people write on their resume applications "detail orientated"? I don't. ever. write. that. Kelly = big picture orientated. Can't say I care much about details and weddings = 1 million details. But the good news is, if they aren't done on that day, I won't care. See? I'm easy to please.
Okay time for paper lady. I hope you enjoyed this wedding planning update. Have I convinced anyone to elope yet?
I hope you guys have a great Saturday :)
Wow, gorgeous! You are going to be a beautiful bride!
ReplyDeleteAnd I think this should be your wedding: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-94JhLEiN0
Lovelovelove it!! The hair is gorgeous. I love the half-up look, and your curls look fab.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I'm a big picture person too. I always get the big things done, then just hope the little things work themselves out :P I have a lot of friends planning weddings right now and I don't know how you do it all on your own. Majorly impressed!
Love the hair. I want mine all the way up, but I do love your curls!
ReplyDeleteYou look so pretty! Hopefully all the little stuff will get figured out so you can just look forward to a fun day of food, fun, and family.
ReplyDeleteHaha and out of most weddings I have been to, we were the only ones not to do an Irish blessing, and my husband is from Ireland. We did a Native American blessing instead, which I loved. We did have some Enya tunes there.
you crack me up.. i hated wedding planning as well but you seem to spend quadruple the time on yours that i did on mine haha.. i really like your hair.. i would suggest a little lighter on the eye makeup.. especially if you don't usually wear it liek that... my eye makeup was so not me on my wedding because they put it kind of like yours and that is not how i make up myself..so i thought it looked wierd.. just my two cents about it.. i walked into my uncle singing "she" by elvis costello.. that was pretty cool.. there are lots of country songs that could be appropriate if you guys like country.. do you have a favorite singer? look into their songs.. try this site out if you haven't already http://offbeatbride.com/2008/07/wedding-readings
ReplyDeleteYou are going to be a very beautiful bride!! :) Gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteFlowers actually turned out being one of my favorite parts of the wedding planning. But that's b/c I love horticulture.
And I was so with you on not enjoying the planning -- but crossing things off it is awesome!
Have a great weekend! :)
Very pretty! I don't usually wear a lot of makeup either and my husband was like woah on our wedding day because they said they needed to do me up for the photos. He always tells me I took prettier on just regular days because he is more about the natural and not a fan of me being all dolled up. It's fun to be really fancy every once in awhile though! You look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the hairstyle!
ReplyDeleteI love the hair style, happy planning!
ReplyDeleteI'm LOVING the positive wedding post! You know this is the first one ever- right? right? haha
ReplyDeleteLove the hair!!! And I had to do a double take with the makeup - since you scarcely wear any it was hard to recognize you! But you look beautiful nonetheless!!!!
ReplyDeleteAw, Pretty Lady, you are going to be a stunning bride!
ReplyDeleteThe hair looks beautiful! Can't wait to see it combo'd with the dress soon!
ReplyDeleteoh my god, Eric's jaw is going to be on the floor at your wedding! the hair and makeup are INCREDIBLE - I can only imagine how gorgeous you're going to look with the dress on as well. Lovely, just lovely, girl!
ReplyDeleteI loved and hated this post haha! I am getting married July 31st so I am going through a LOT of the same things as you right now...so I loved hearing about your hair and makeup trials and deciding on flowers and stuff. However reading about parent gifts and music and writing the ceremony I got knots in my stomach and was like oh my gosh some of that isn't even ON my list yet!! I feel like every time I cross something off I add something new. Ah, what a stressful time! I know it will all be worth it but it's tough. By the way your makeup looks GORGEOUS!!!
ReplyDeleteYour hair is beautiful! I can't wait to see what the hot pink bouquet looks like. I feel like I know that it's going to be a lot of work to plan a wedding, but I bet I have no idea of how many little details there REALLY are. I'm going to pretend like I don't know...and just continue to be excited about planning my wedding someday, haha!
ReplyDeleteAmen! First, I LOVE crossing things off my To-Do list! I live for it. Second, I would never write detail oriented on a resume, because like you I am QUITE the opposite!
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks absolutely gorgeous. Seriously, I LOVE it. I can't wait to see pictures from the big day. Your makeup also looks fantastic. Not too much (I hate that) and you actually look like yourself. Love it.
Omigoodness Kelly you are absolutely gorgeous! Love love love!
ReplyDeleteI have a wedding complaint story for you, you'll enjoy this one. 2.5 years ago when Eric's cousin got engaged he asked Eric to be a groomsmen and of course Eric said yes, we hadn't heard anything since.
Well, the wedding is the weekend AFTER we return from Europe and just the other day the groom asked Eric if he'd ordered his tux. We're like "what?!" you haven't mentioned ANYTHING about the wedding in the last 2.5 years since first asking. Literally. So I sent the bride a facebook message asking her for details and saying that Eric thought he could maybe just wear the same tux he wore to his sisters wedding (a basic black tux) because we wouldn't have time to get one before the wedding now.
Well, she turns into complete bridezilla and says NO eric cannot wear that tux because his sisters wedding colours were Red, black and white and her wedding colours are PINK, black and white (dear god, what a difference) and he needs to go to Moores to get a tux. So tomorrow, on top of stressing about last-minute trip stuff we have to go get Eric fitted for the tux. I'm PISSED. The bride and groom should have let us know sooner that he needed to get a tux! We have heard NO DETAILS of this wedding at all in the last two years. GRRRRR
Anyways, thought you might enjoy that little rant ;) This will probably be my last comment for a few weeks so I figured it might as well be a good one! BYE! I will miss you and your blog posts!!! XO
Gorgeous hair and makeup trial. You're going to be a beautiful bride!!! :)
ReplyDeleteKelllly! Love love love the hair and makeup! I can't wait to see the pictures of you all dolled up on the big day!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting so much done! And YES, I love crossing things off a list.
ReplyDeleteYour hair and makeup look great!
Very cool that you have your Master's in literacy! I actually would prefer to be a classroom teacher over a reading specialist. I chose literacy because I want to teach the primary grades I feel like literacy is such a big part of the early years.
ReplyDeleteOk I am stuck so I have to ask..what are your parent gifts??
Wow! Busy weekend, but productive!
ReplyDeleteLove the hair and make-up! You look absolutely gorgeous!
You look great!!
ReplyDeleteI hate wedding planning too. With a passion.
Wedding planning sounds like a lot of work! I'm sure you'll be happy later that you got all the details arranged in advance...
ReplyDeleteLove the hair and make-up!
