Sunday Advice

Good morning! Happy Superbowl Sunday! I have to admit that I'm not really that into the Superbowl this year (am I usually?). I don't particularly care who wins, and I kind of wish they would change it into Superbowl Saturday so I could do something fun without regretting it all day tomorrow :) Oh well.

So here is my random Sunday morning dilemma. Thanks to those of you who follow me on twitter and were trying to help me with this dilemma last night. I am finally taking the plunge to buying my own domain, but www.redsoxcap.com is already taken (and by taken I mean someone owns it, no one is actually doing anything with it, which is even more annoying haha). I have been trying to brainstorm other name ideas. My goals for the name are:
-easy to remember
-incorporate my blog name & what my blog is about if possible

Right now I'm considering the following domains...
1. http://www.soxandsneakers.com
2. http://www.redsoxpinkboots.com (thanks Liz)
3. http://www.shewearsaredsoxcap.com (thanks Amber)
4. http://www.redsoxcap.net (thanks to my uncle)

Oh and thanks to Meghan too, she came up with lots of awesome names (including my second choice www.redsoxgirl.com) but sadly they were taken- mostly by more people who don't actually do anything with them haha.

Here are my thoughts on them. I think #1 is my current favorite, I have no major problems with this domain except that it's a little different than my blog name. What do you think? Would you guys remember it?

I love #2- love love it. I want to use it for something in my life haha. I'm just concerned it doesn't really describe my blog...but, does that matter?

I love #3 too, but I think I want it to be shorter. I'm really going for easy to remember...

#4 is obviously exactly what I wanted, except it has .net on the end. I'm concerned about this because no healthy living bloggers I know have .net, so I think that would be harder to remember than a name change.

What are your thoughts? You guys are who I am thinking about when making this, so I want to know what you like the best and what you think is easiest to remember :)

I'm going to go tackle my "To Do" list now. Eric and I have some fun plans for today so I'll be back tonight to tell you about our day.

  2. I think number three is a keeper, if it's available! That's easy for everyone to remember. Good for your for "taking the plunge". I'd like to do this sometime soon too, it's just the obvious next step...right?! Let us know how it goes, I'd like to know what goes into this, as I've never looked in to it before. How much does it cost anyway??

  3. i like #3 and #1...#3 is pretty long, but easy to remember since it's also the name of your blog. #1 is cute though!

  4. I like #2. To me, it is the one that most reflects your personality...

What is the difference/benefit of having your own domain name versus a blogspot.com address?

  5. I like em all, but personally I thought it was already #3 to be honest, thats what I call your blog so its what I would type in if I had to remember it - thankfully blogger remembers all the blogs for me anyway :o)

  6. SOX AND SNEAKERS!
I mean, I was a big fan of sweatysox but I'll just have to incorporate that into my blog some how : )

  8. I like #4 since it's the same...I don't think dot net will give people a problem. Buuuut, I've got you in Google Reader so I'm sure to find you no matter what you pick! :0)

  9. Tricky! I like #1 too but it bothers me when blogs are named differently than their URLs... isn't that silly? I think it's just my own little OCD thing but I'd say change the name of your blog to match your domain name :)

  12. I love them all but I find #2 quite suiting!!!!

  13. I like the first one a lot. #2 is cute but I think you should have something along the lines of healthy living in your blog title, since that's what the majority of your blog is about! It's catchy, too!

  14. Just started to follow you on twitter! I didn't know you were on twitter! I like all of them! good luck choosing one!

  15. you'll have to let me/us know how the change goes - I don't really know what the difference is for any other domains!

  16. I think #3 is good because it IS what your blog is already called so that's what people think when they go to type in the domain. Then again, most people (like me) just have it in their readers anyways!

    I also really like #1 it's cute!!!

  17. i SHOULD say #2 but honestly #3 i think is the winner in my book. closest to your current blog name, so if anyone didn't know you'd changed and googled 'redsoxcap' then your new blog would come up.

  18. I like #3.

I have the same problem. Someone has inmytummy.com and did nothing with it. Actually, the domain has expired now, but I don't know how long it takes to be released. I just keep checking and keep getting "this domain is expired. It's pending renewal or deletion."
