Christmas Spirit

Good morning! I'm up (as usual) way too early, but today it's not even an UGH why am I awake already feeling it's a...way too many exciting things to do and not enough time to do them all!

Yesterday was definitely one of those exciting days. I had work all day of course and I swear this past week has been SO long. Nothing bad happened or anything, it just felt like Friday might never come. Once it finally got here I had my work party.

I was visited by Santa twice last night (he was following me!), visit #1:

I left the work party early to head into Boston with my family. We ate at Stella in the South End. Like most South End restaurants I've tried, it was delicious...
Squash Soup:

Scallops:

Pasta:

Meatball Pizza:

After our delicious dinner, we went to the Pops Holiday Show. My Dad actually won these tickets in a golf tournament and they were great seats! I am usually not an endless fan of classical music and I've seen the Pops at BC a few times, but I was so excited for the Christmas music with singing!

The highlight of the whole thing for me was when they did a "reading" (with music) of "Twas the Night Before Christmas." This is my ALL time favorite Christmas story (had it memorized at age 2, not kidding). To make it EVEN better, they showed illustrations by Jan Brett, one of my favorite kids authors. Check it out...

After that, Santa visited me for the second time in one night!

At the end we got to participate in a sing a long!

Overall, it was a great night. I love when the college kids come home (my brother and sister that is haha)!

Unfortunately today is not going as well so far. I woke up at the crack of dawn excited for all the Christmas events of the weekend. I didn't get enough sleep but I stink at sleeping in so I just figured I'd make up for it later. I immediately went out to do Christmas/weekend errands and discovered IT WAS INSANE out in the world. I got the grocery store at 7:30 am and there was already a 20 person line for the deli! I guess it's because we are going to have a blizzard tomorrow, but this is Boston not Washington DC- we'll probably be fine to drive by tomorrow afternoon!

Anyway, I am going to give myself a major attitude adjustment RIGHT NOW. I have some more fun on tap for today/tonight, so hopefully I can stay awake for all of it.

  1. Mmm LOVE Stella! And my dad read us The Night Before Christmas every year growing up. When he passed away, my mom took over reading it to us, and would you believe we still sit and read it to this day? Now to my 2 yr old niece. What a great story!

  3. Sounds like a great time!

Crazy weather! It's pretty calm here and should be through Christmas, which is not usually the case. But, I'll take it!

  8. We just got back from the mall, and I wanted to leave the second I walked in. Kids and parents everywhere, with toys and holidays all on their brains...craziness!!

The food from Stella looks STELLAR. haha, the scallops especially. I love scallops, I basically get them whenever I see them on a menu!

My husband tried to go to the grocery store yesterday....he turned around and came home! Everyone was stocking up I guess.
