This time of year I always loose a little blogging mojo- just so busy. I thought I'd do a quick recap of what I've been up to and what I have on tap for races this summer.
Last weekend my "little" brother graduated college so we were down in CT to celebrate and watch him get his diploma. It was a super rainy and cold day, so Caroline and I ended up ditching our dresses and wear Sacred Heart sweatshirts instead. At least we had school spirit?
This weekend we went to the Cape to celebrate the unofficial beginning of summer with… drumroll, more rain. It was okay though, we managed to get two delicious dinners in, one with a gorgeous view. This restaurant is the spot Eric and I had our rehearsal dinner almost 3 years ago (what?!). The food is as amazing as the view.
We also headed over to Mashpee Commons to enjoy some lunch and shopping. It was crowded because of the blah weather, but we still managed to have fun.
Today we were back at home being productive. I went to yoga, Caroline and I went for a bike ride, and Eric and I planted more vegetables in our garden. Now we have zucchini, summer squash, eggplant, butternut squash, jalapeƱos and red pepper! Go big or go home.
I've been meaning to do a post on some of the races I have my eye on for this summer. I did my first triathlon of the new season in early May. It went well, so I'm pumped for another season of training and racing.
Hyannis Sprint Triathlon- 1/4 mile swim, 10 mile bike, 3.5 mile run
Against the Tide Swim & Run- 1 mile swim, 5K
Cranberry Trifest Sprint Triathlon- 1/2 mile swim, 14.2 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
Title 9 Women's Triathlon- 1/4 mile swim, 10 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
I'm hoping to balance all 3 sports with some yoga this summer and be ready for all of these races. If I could just get the whole work thing out of the way I would so much more time to train :)
Fill me in on what is going on with you and what races you are hoping to do this summer, if any :)
Ha, I love how work is getting in the way of having fun. I mean, ain't that the truth for most of us!?!? ha. Sounds like you have a fun summer ahead - having races on the calendar is such a good way to stay motivated!
ReplyDeleteFor the first time in forever, I'm taking a more casual approach to racing. As in, I want to enter races, but only if I'm going to have fun. This coming weekend, I'm doing a glow in the dark 5K. And in July, I'm going to do a color run. There is also a Hot Chocolate 15K in November that I might do if my running really picks up this summer.
I will be so excited and ready to relax during summer once I get a job! It looks like now that this is the last week of school, districts are getting their butts in gear. I have two interviews this week, so hopefully something happens.
ReplyDeleteAs for races, Dam to Dam (20K) is this weekend and I am sure I'll train for the Des Moines Half again (which is in October) I'm gonna have to find something else to keep me busy in between D2D and the half though!
Cape Cod looks so gorgeous. Some day I want to do the Ragnar Race out there! And just visit it...
ReplyDeleteYou guys can send some rain to AZ! ;)
That's awesome that you're doing tri's now. I'm just getting into them too, and love it! The forced cross training is so good for you, too! Balancing the 3 sports can be tricky though. Especially if you like to lift weights or do yoga.
Umm.. I want to do all those races with you.. details please! : ) Also, this garden will be perfect for when I move in with you this summer.. I eat a lot of red pepper!
ReplyDeleteWait - it's been almost 3 years since your wedding??? How is that possible? I thought it was like 2! Time flies! I really hope I can swing a trip up during the summer so I can check out the cape, but if that doesn't work, I will just have to come next summer I guess!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any races in sight besides Chicago which I honestly am feeling more and more pessimistic about being able to do. But we'll see. I will still go either way, but it will be a huge bummer to spectate instead of running... Today is my last day in the boot, though, and hopefully I am back to running in 2-3 weeks!
I have had the craziest month so am feeling quite frazzled lately. Was hoping for downtime tonight but I have an evening meeting, whomp whomp. I have a half-marathon this Sunday, a 16 km race (with part of it being the grouse grind) the following Saturday, a 21 km trail race in July, a half-marathon at the end of July, my 50 km on August 10, an 18 km trail race on September 1 and then Chicago Marathon in october. And then I'm taking November and December off running. Maybe. Ha!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like an awesome garden! Its been cold and rainy here too. I've been doing a lot of reading and spending time with my cousins. Congratulations to your brother on his graduation!
ReplyDeleteYou have a lot going on for sure! We have had an unusually rainy start to the summer but I'm ok with it as it's meant mild temps and low a/c bills =)
ReplyDeleteNo races on the agenda for the summer but a hopeful one in October: a half =)
