Not the best blogger over here. Oh well, I survived the month of March and that always seems to be an accomplishment in itself. If you celebrate, I hope you had a lovely Easter. I also hope you had some of the beautiful weather we enjoyed in Massachusetts this weekend. The best.
Music
If you like country music, you probably know Florida Georgia Line. Caroline introduced me to them last summer on our Jackson Hole trip, with great song Cruise. Last night she told me about the new remix of this song featuring Nelly, which is just amazing. Unfortunately, youtube seems to hate it for some reason so they have muted every version on there. I guess I'm going to have to stop being cheap and buy it on iTunes. Florida Georgia Line also has a new song out called Get Your Shine On.
Miles
This month I was aiming for 3 miles of swimming, 60 miles of biking, 20 miles of running and 4 hours of yoga. My final totals were:
Swim: 6200 Yards (3.5 miles- goal met)
Bike: 62.8 (goal met)
Run: 21.5 miles (goal met)
Yoga: approx. 4 hours- I failed to track this 100% for some of my home practices, but I was definitely in the 4 hour range somewhere.
I'm not going to lie. I got sick this month, and had out of town visitors, so hitting these goals involved a lot of catch up for the last week. Let's just say I will definitely be taking the first day of April off. Whew.
Books
I read so many great books in the last two months. I still can't get them out of my mind. I just finished another book, and now I feel like I don't even know where to go next. See my last post for the specific books I recommend.
Looks
Seriously, I have to get rid of this section. I rarely buy new clothes and I am not that fashionable. Last month I discussed yoga pants, so there was that. Maybe I will just start posting pictures of my friends babies wearing cute clothes?
Goals Recap- March
Other than my fitness goals, I was also aiming for some other things in the month of March. My biggest accomplishment was cleaning for 10 minutes a night at 7:20. As I've mentioned before, I hate cleaning and get easily overwhelmed by it. The ten minute clean up was great, especially for the daily tasks like sorting and recycling mail etc. I also applied this baby steps method to other aspects of my life. For example, at work I wanted to donate/give away several books in my classroom library (I inherited some really bad ones when I started teaching and I was desperate then, but now they are just taking up space). I never have any extra time at work, but I decided I had time to go through one bin a day and try to get rid of about 10 books. At the end of two weeks I had put aside over 100 books for new teachers to take. Yay! This was a really important lesson this month and I'm really excited to explore it even further in April.
I failed miserably at getting ready for bed at 9. I did okay on saving money in general, but I also booked our summer trip so any money saved was immediately spent. Oops.
I will be back tomorrow with my April goals. They need their own post.
How was your March and what are you looking forward to in April?
Amber, you and I all did this post today. :) You had a strong week of workouts!! It's great that there is so much variety to your workouts! Mine are almost 100% running... mostly because I don't really have to think about it, I just do it. And the less I have to think/plan these days, the better. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy March was ok... I traveled every week except the last so it felt short, and packed with a lot of moving stuff and the beginning of my good byes. I am looking forward to getting settled into my new apartment and hopefully by the end of the month I'll go from kind hating Charlotte to not minding it. I am also looking forward to going to a friend's wedding in Charlotte.
It's not on iTunes either!! That's the worst part! So right now I'm just singing it in my own head.. I failed with most of my March goals, too! And am not fashionable. Woo! Happy April!
ReplyDeleteYou should change the looks section to something else that you do monthly. That's why I switched up music to meals in my monthly recap because I'm not really a music person but I LOVE food :)
ReplyDeleteI might take April off from doing monthly goals. I am having a hard time thinking of something and probably won't even get a post done this week!
Way to go on the goal meeting for your swimming and running. Fun fact: i'm afraid of biking. Yes, it's true. One too many falls, I'm afraid.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea of taking 10 minutes to clean up your life. I might have to use this as a prompt for my motivations next month ... and I think you'd agree if you saw the state of our condo.
